From 1 to 4 October 2026, San Diego Comic-Con Málaga returns to FYCMA, Málaga’s Trade Fair and Congress Centre on Avenida Ortega y Gasset. Four days of events, an expanded convention, and one important question for visitors travelling to Málaga: where should you stay to be close to the venue without spending half your evening getting back?

Where to stay for Comic-Con Málaga 2026

FYCMA is not in Málaga’s historic centre. It is near the city’s western ring road, in the Cruz de Humilladero district, roughly between the airport and the Old Town. That makes choosing accommodation for a four-day convention quite different from planning a typical city break.
After a full day at the convention, the journey back matters. A ten-minute trip makes it easy to drop off your cosplay gear, get changed before dinner or take an afternoon break. A 45-minute journey involving a change of transport makes every trip back to your room a bigger decision.
Los Prados, a residential neighbourhood in the west of Málaga, is the closest residential area to the venue. The historic centre is still a good choice if you want to combine Comic-Con with sightseeing, but expect higher prices during major events and a daily commute to Avenida Ortega y Gasset.
Rooms with private bathrooms in Los Prados: the closest residential area to FYCMA, with a number 20 bus stop 130 metres away and a local train station 290 metres away. Book direct with no booking fees.

The best areas to stay near FYCMA
1.8 KM FROM THE VENUE
Los Prados
The closest residential neighbourhood to FYCMA. Direct access on bus route 20, a local train station and accommodation prices less affected by city-centre event demand. A quiet area with local shops and places to eat, including options with extended opening hours.
COMIC-CON AND CITY BREAK
Historic Centre
Ideal if you want to enjoy museums, cafés and the city alongside the convention. In 2025, a shuttle service ran from Calle Larios to the venue. Room rates tend to rise during major events, and accommodation books up sooner.
DIRECT BUS ROUTE 22
Teatinos
A university neighbourhood with a direct connection to the venue on bus route 22. It offers spacious accommodation at relatively affordable prices, although it is further from both the beach and the historic centre if you’re extending your stay.
BEACH AND COMIC-CON
Torremolinos and the western coast
A good choice if you’re adding a few beach days to your trip. The C1 local train connects to Victoria Kent, the nearest train stop to FYCMA. However, it means a longer journey each morning, and you’ll need to plan around the last train back.
getting there
How to get to Comic-Con Málaga
FYCMA is served by four EMT city bus routes and is connected to the Cercanías local rail network via Victoria Kent station. Bus route 20 runs between Ciudad Jardín, the city centre and Los Prados, stopping near FYCMA on Camino de San Rafael. It’s a convenient way to reach the venue from western Málaga.
| From | Transport | Route or stop | Changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Los Prados | EMT city bus | Route 20 · Camino de San Rafael – Recinto Ferial | None |
| Historic centre | EMT city bus | Routes 4, 19 and 20 | None |
| Teatinos | EMT city bus | Route 22 · Max Estrella – Palacio de Ferias | None |
| Airport | C1 local train | To Victoria Kent | None |
| María Zambrano railway station | EMT city bus | Routes 20 or 4 from Paseo de los Tilos | None |
| Western coast | C1 local train | To Victoria Kent, then a 15-minute walk | None |
FYCMA has its own parking facilities, although the usual parking areas were unavailable during the previous edition and alternative spaces were provided on Avenida de las Malagueñas. With 60,000 visitors across four days, driving may not be the quickest option around opening and closing times.
after the convention
Where to eat and unwind after Comic-Con

The area immediately around FYCMA is dominated by exhibition facilities and major roads, with limited dining options once the halls close. It’s easy to overlook when booking: after a long day, you’ll be tired, hungry and possibly carrying a heavy costume, with dinner still some distance away.
Staying in a residential neighbourhood makes evenings easier. Los Prados has local shops, supermarkets and neighbourhood restaurants, some with extended opening hours, without the crowds of the city centre during a major event. If you’d prefer dinner in town, the local train takes you towards the historic centre in around ten minutes, making it easier to visit Calle Larios or the port without relying on taxis.
Being able to head back during the day is another advantage. With your accommodation just a short journey away, you can change out of your cosplay outfit, drop off purchases from the Exhibitor Hall or rest before an afternoon panel without missing too much.
Camino de los Prados, 3: a local café-bar a short walk from the accommodation, serving food from early morning. It opens at 6.30 am Monday to Saturday, ideal for breakfast before the exhibition halls open. Closed on Sundays.
Calle Popa, 1: a neighbourhood favourite serving camperos, Málaga’s signature toasted sandwiches, from 7.30 pm to midnight. A handy dinner option after the convention without heading into the city centre. Closed on Saturdays.

When to book your accommodation
The first week of October brings together the end of Málaga’s peak tourist season and a convention that previously attracted 60,000 visitors. Accommodation close to FYCMA can sell out weeks in advance, and last-minute options tend to be more expensive or further away.
The safest option is to book your accommodation as soon as you’ve secured your Comic-Con ticket. Booking direct helps you avoid third-party booking fees and puts you in touch with the team looking after your stay.
